At a venue yet to be confirmed, the biggest contenders of the South-East region will be heading out to secure a spot at University Mixed Indoor Nationals (UMIN) later on in the term. Last year saw Mohawks 1 fight their way to the final, only to be defeated by Warwick Bears. This year, they’ll be going all out to bring home the crown of Mixed Indoor Champions to the University of Sussex, where it rightfully belongs (true fact). Looking to prove they’re the real deal, Mohawks 1 will be out for blood at their first outing of the 2011-2012 University Season. Defending national champions, the open first team will be looking to take it all the way and qualify for Nationals in style, while the second and third teams will be fighting their way through the tournament to win a second slot at nationals for the club.
Mohawks Women will be looking to start the season with a strong showing at this tournament. Qualification for nationals is the aim for the first team, with the second team gaining valuable pitch experience and hopefully generating some unexpected upsets along the way. Most importantly, the whole squad will be partying it up on the Saturday night and aiming to keep their title as the Queens of the Dancefloor (University Women’s Outdoor Nationals, Party Prize, 2011).
